Reading Buddies Wonderful app. It takes the beautiful graphics and great concepts and places them in an engaging game format. Fully customizable, you can turn on and off different topics. Love the letter sounds. Single player mode is great for the kid who needs extra time. The excitement of the competition is wonderful in two player mode. Hope you'll put more of your great matching apps into this terrific format.
I could make my own games with this but that takes time. Top of my wish list would be to do a sight word version. Thanks for making this free.
I would definitely pay for games with harder content. One suggestion, though.

Fun finder mom I downloaded this to keep my 3 year old entertained on a flight and it worked great! HOWEVER, the best part is that I customized it for my 7 year old with spelling words and math so we can race against each other and he doesn't even know he is studying. Just use a drawing app to draw numbers and words and save them in your photo collection. Then say the question verbally. Ie record '9+8' and have the visual be 17. Then do all the '9+x' and you can race your genius to see who can add faster.
Just remember to turn off all the other topics, so you can focus on your new topic. You can do places (using pictures), grammar, social studies, history, anything you'd do flash cards for! Momma Crane My 16 month old son started playing this app and was able to understand the words. I find it frustrating when a song or sound plays while the voice is directing them what to do- but this app is very articulate without distractions- love that! My son enjoys picking out his stickers after answering his questions and likes that it doesn't pause or delay- he can keep going without an animation playing that he doesn't like.
Over and over again like some apps do. Excellent app for fast learners!!

While many of the great apps out there for toddlers are paid, there are several excellent free apps that will keep a toddler entertained and even do a little teaching along the way. Before you go downloading, you should make sure your iPad has been childproofed. The number one thing to do is to, which will keep your toddler from accidentally buying something within the app. How Much Screen Time Should Your Toddler Have? The newest recommendations do away with any hard limit for the amount of time a toddler should spend with 'screens.' Most learning with a device like an iPad begins at age 2+, so screen time before then should be limited to 1-2 hours, and even after the age of two, screen time should have its limits. The best use of the iPad is playing with your child while they are on the device.
YouTube Kids is a selection of kid-friendly channels that range from Sesame Street to Peppa Pig to educational and music videos. Perhaps the best feature is the voice-enabled search. This allows your child to perform their own searches and find their own videos. While the app is kid-safe and doesn't show advertisements, it does have 'unpacking' videos, which are videos of a toy being unpacked and played with. These videos can be rather addicting to young kids, and unfortunately, the timer in the parental settings of the app doesn't' work very well. Every kid needs a paint canvas, and Chalk Pad is a great free alternative to some of the paid apps on the App Store. Allowing your child to chalk it up with multiple colors, you can even change the chalk size or write one the chalkboard using the on-screen keyboard.
This is a great alternative for younger toddlers who might not spend as much time freestyling on the chalkboard to make a paid app worth it, but if your toddler really loves to paint, I'd recommend as a relatively cheap drawing app aimed at kids with good quality.

The biggest problem is finding the best apps for toddlers among the thousands, if not millions of toddler apps out there.
After being overwhelmed with the options available (a large percentage of which were low quality, filled with ads or had very little educational value), I recently asked for YOUR favorite toddler apps. You can read the responses to that thread. There were several apps that were recommended many times, along with some great new suggestions. After having a closer look at your recommendations I have compiled a list of Apps your toddler will love! You will notice that the list contains a mix of free and paid apps. While I could have focused on only the free apps, I feel that there are some excellent toddler apps that are worth paying a few dollars for (especially if it means no adds and excellent content). If you are looking for only free apps I have put together a If you’re worried about your toddler dropping or breaking your own phone or tablet, then I recommend the F.
